The choice
What the operation puts to you, what each answer pays, and how it turned out. An option with two outcomes is one that can go wrong. This contract is authored several times over and the strategy layer rolls one of them, so the options you get depend on the version you draw: read the briefing and match it to the one below.
We arrive at the meeting point to find a slightly batty traveling merchant named Skeez. For a price, he invites one of our operators to reach into a "magic box" that he claims remembers loyalty and rewards the truly patient and trusting.
Which option to pick
Every answer pays the same. They differ in which zone the influence lands in.
AAgree. Why not?
The box was empty. Skeez shrugged: "Come back soon. Your loyalty will be rewarded."
Our operator reached into the box and found a reward. Skeez was ebullient: "I told you the box rewards loyalty!"
BDecline. We've already wasted enough time on charlatans.
Skeez shrugged: "Not very loyal of you. The box will remember this."
We're hearing reports that the local population is hunting a many-armed beast that appears in the dark of night to eat livestock and even some villagers. Can Zero Company help?
AHelp defend the village. Our operators can set up a perimeter to defend against the creature.
Our operators helped the locals set up a well-lit defensive perimeter around their village. Hours past midnight, the creature appeared. Blinded by the light and howling at the sting of blaster bolts, the beast retreated back into the wilderness. The villagers should be safe, for now.
Requires 4 operators assigned.
BDecline the job. We don't have time to hunt local critters.
We declined the job, leaving the locals to fend for themselves.
The game withholds what this pays until it resolves.
A mysterious woman named Odra is looking for a crew to transport her to Christophsis, no questions asked.
Which option to pick
Take "Accept the job". It is the only one that pays, at 1,000 credits.
AAccept the job. No questions, no problem.
Our team took Odra's credits and dropped her off at a discreet landing pad on Christophsis. Easy money.
BInvestigate Odra. Assign 2 operators to ask for more details.
Odra didn't take kindly to the assigned operator and the assigned operator's prying and decided to hire another crew. Probably for the best.
Requires 2 operators assigned.
The mysterious Odra has reappeared! She is contacting us because she remembers our team's quick, discreet work transporting her to Christophsis and trusts us with the truth: at the time, she was a deep cover spy with Republic Intelligence. Since the Republic fell, she's been in hiding. Now, she needs an extraction, and promises us credits and intel in exchange.
Which option to pick
Take " Assign operators". It is the only one that hands over Intel.
A Assign operators. Let's get her out.
Despite the many Imperial eyes on us, our team successfully extracted Odra from a tough spot. The ex-spy thanked us, paid us for our trouble and gave us some key intel.
Requires 4 operators assigned.
BWish her luck. Unfortunately, we can't risk it.
Odra understood, and wished us luck in turn. This new Empire is a cold, hard place.
A small village is being terrorized by a malfunctioning assassin droid. Can we help?
ATake it out carefully. If we're careful, we might be able to extract its capacitor.
Requires 4 operators assigned.
With a quick, surgical strike, our team downed the assassin droid without destroying its inner workings. They successfully saved the villagers, and salvaged a Capacitor while they were at it.
Our team left nothing but a smoking crater where the assassin droid once stood. They didn't salvage any parts, but at least the villagers are safe.
BBlow it up. This is no time for delicacy.
Our team left nothing but a smoking crater where the assassin droid once stood. They didn't salvage any parts, but at least the villagers are safe.
Requires 4 operators assigned.
A group of civilians are planning an ill-conceived attack on a powerful regional gang that is extorting local businesses. The plan involves raiding one of the gang's weapon caches. These people are clearly desperate and in over their heads. What should we do?
Which option to pick
Take "Tip off the gang". Every other answer here is a dead end.
AAssist them with a stealthy heist. Our operators can help the civilians sneak into the cache.
The civilians' inexperience and cockiness proved fatal. Instead of waiting for our operators to get into position, they abandoned stealth and charged straight into the gang's goons. Our team returned home, disillusioned by our latest attempt to help the hapless.
Requires 3 operators assigned.
BAssist them with a direct assault. We can send operators to support them in a firefight.
Despite our attempts to coordinate them, the civilians were disorganized and foolish combatants. The gang easily repelled their attack, and many civilians perished. Our team returned home, disillusioned by our latest attempt to help the hapless.
Requires 4 operators assigned.
CTip off the gang. It's the best way to avoid bloodshed.
The gang thanks our team for the tip. They plan to move their cache, staving off any attacks from the locals. Things might get worse for the locals, but at least they won't run into a massacre.
